BIOTECHNOLOGY FOR GROWING GRAIN LEGUMES
(SOY, PEAS, CHICK PEAS, BEANS, VETCH, LENTIL and other LEGUMES)

Russian scientists and farming practitioners have developed an unparalleled BIOTECHNOLOGY of cultivating legumes for food, fodder and industrial purposes, which allows you to have stable yields of crops without application of mineral, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, chemical protectants, fungicides and growth stimulators; yield rates are the same as with conventional technologies or more.

A biotechnology for soy cultivation was pilot-tested in the Omsk region in 2007-2008 on 5000 hectares of land totally; it brought about a yield increase of 0.3-0.4 metric ton per hectare (protein content rose from 26 % to 32 %) if compared with conventional technology where mineral fertilizers and fungicides are used. In 2009 in Krasnodar region, application of RISOBAKT ensured a yield of soy at the rate of 2.5 metric tons per hectare, which was 0.4 metric ton per hectare in excess of conventional technology’s results; the yield rate for green pea was 3.0-4.0 metric tons per hectare. In Belgorod region, in very dry weather, RISOBAKT brought about a yield of soy at the rate of 1.5 metric tons per hectare; compare it with the results at another field – 1.4 metric tons per hectare – where a Brazilian fertilizer was used.  The amount of tubercles on soy roots was 5-10 pcs per plant.

The mechanism of BIOTECHNOLOGY relies on the capability of RISOBAKT SP to activate the work of nitrogen-extracting flora and phosphorus/potassium-desorbing flora, which results in a situation when a legume plant gets all necessary nutrients at each moment of its growth and development, while with conventional technologies nutrition is provided to plants in uneven portions. Removal of mineral fertilizers from agro-technology helps considerably reduce field infestation and at the same time cut costs related to the application of herbicides or to inter-raw cultivation. Development of useful microflora in the rhizosphere and on plants’ roots helps drive out pathogenic flora and suppress it due to the release of natural antibiotics; thanks to this legume seed treatment with chemical protectants (fungicides) is not needed with BIOTECHNOLOGY.

Note: in case there is a risk of spread of SOY disease during vegetation, a bio-control is needed in the form of additional foliar dressings of Risobakt at the rate of 0.2 l/ha at the early phases of vegetation.
