sunflower

Drier soils and weaker rains have been the two key problems of agriculture over the past years. Under such weather conditions, mineral fertilizers do not ensure the desired results and often cause substantial chemical stress to crops. Sunflower is no exception. With a glance to these new climatic realities, LLC "Petersburg Biotechnologies" specialists have developed a BIOTECHNOLOGY FOR SUNFLOWER CULTIVATION, which allows you to have stable yields and high seed quality (varieties and hybrids) both in normal conditions and during droughts.

At the heart of this biotechnology lies a more active work of useful rhiso-bacteria and microscopic fungi that have a natural ability of extracting ambient air nitrogen and of desorbing phosphorus and potassium in sunflower fields. Having symbiotic relations with microflora, sunflower's need in water is considerably reduced, because moist is not spent on dissolving the salts of mineral fertilizers and on absorbing them by roots.

BENEFITS OF THE BIOTECHNOLOGY

1). Fast growth of plants after sprouting thanks to a balanced nutrition and to the provision of additional formerly “unavailable” moisture:

- growth and development are 7-10 days faster;

- early formation of a strong leaf apparatus that protects soil from heat and dehydration;

- formation of “fluffy” roots covered in tiny thin fibers through which, in a capillary way, previously “unavailable” moist enters the plant.

2). Guaranteed harvest in drought, protection from water and temperature stresses:

- no chemical stress in dry weather caused by mineral fertilizers or pesticides;

- twofold reduction of the amount of moisture that evaporates from leaves, due to regulation of stomas' activity;

- protection of plants from overheating thanks to a thicker layer of wax-coating on leaves.

3). Increased quality of product: oil and confectionary characteristics of seeds:

- larger sunflower calathids;

- better seed pods;

- increased oil content in seeds – 5% and more;

- better taste of fried seeds;

- honey-dew more attractive for bees.

  4). Seed yield stable over years even in dry weather: breeds - 15-20 centner/ha, hybrids 20-30 centner/ha. Additional yield, compared to natural fertility, of as much as 3-5 metric centners per hectare for varieties, and 4-10 centners per hectare for hybrids; oil content increased by 3-5 %.
